Mini's

Introduction to contact rugby. Players learn safe falling, basic tackling technique, and the breakdown.

Coaching Philosophy

U12 is a pivotal age group: the transition from tag to contact rugby. Safety is the absolute priority. The FFR's 'Bien Joué' programme emphasises that contact is introduced progressively, with a strong focus on correct technique before any competitive pressure is applied.

Match Play

Contact rugby (modified rules). 7v7 or 8v8. Scrums are uncontested. Lineouts are simplified.

Key Principles for U12
1Safety first: correct technique before intensity
2Introduce the tackle: cheek-to-cheek, wrap, drive
3Practise falling safely (breakfall technique)
4Introduce the ruck concept (over the ball)
5Begin to develop set-piece basics (scrum, lineout simplified)
